On Wednesday 23rd May 2018, Sylatech celebrated the official opening of a new Microwave Production facility adjoining our existing factory in Kirkbymoorside. This is an important day for Sylatech as we remind our staff, existing and potential customers of our business as a strong independent, rurally based, British manufacturer in growth.
18 months ago, Sylatech embarked on an ambitious expansion plan to grow its core business by a minimum of £1M per annum for the next 5 years, which equated to approximately 15% year-on-year growth. To do so Sylatech needed significant co-operation with its customers and around this time Sylatech successfully won a large 10-year contract worth £13.2m with SAAB, for antenna boards for their AMB Giraffe product range. Clearly our growth plan got off to a flying start and a firm strategic alliance has been formed with our Swedish colleagues from SAAB.
On the back of this contract, Sylatech had an immediate demand to increase production capacity and this included infrastructure as well as people. A new facility was developed and running with live production within 6 months of the first digger arriving on site. Hans Larsson,of Strategic Sourcing at SAAB, very kindly came over to Kirkbymoorside to formally open our new facility.
To meet our future growth ambitions, we plan to yet again further expand our site and facility here in Kirkbymoorside, which will secure further long-term job opportunities in Ryedale. Sylatech is currently a very exciting place to be.
