Job Title: Process/Development Engineer – Foundry

Department: Operations

Reporting to: Maintenance and Project Manager

Purpose of the Role:

Reporting to the Maintenance and Project Manager, the Process/Development Engineer will be responsible for supporting production and engineering requirements, assisting in current ongoing improvements, identifying and driving new process improvements.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Develop and improve manufacturing processes
  • Continual improvement of existing parts yields
  • Develop the process for new products
  • Analyse parts for faults and discuss, implement trails starting at wax make through to finished product, examine results and update QPs as required
  • Develop best practice, routines and solutions to improve production rates and quality of output
  • Resolution of technical issues
  • Be able to follow test procedures
  • Have a clear understanding of all current and future manufacturing projects
  • Project management and assistance in the planning and project review of new product developments
  • To review new technologies, appropriate to business needs
  • To strive continually for improvement and enhance the current electrical design and development capabilities of the Company products
  • Develop and maintain good customer relationships
  • Provide support to the Sylatech marketing team and help with the development of promotional campaigns and other activities that will help in the recognition of the Company
  • Attend trade shows and industry networking events
  • Be available to support in-territory sales visits which will include overseas travel on occasion
  • Prepare technical presentations and proposals when developing new business opportunities for the Company

Personal Specification:


  • A Mechanical/Production background


  • Manufacturing/Engineering


  • Experience with CAD/AutoCAD/3D modelling
  • Experience of process development and product development

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written) able to liaise across all areas of manufacturing
  • Analytical, numerate and creative thinking
