Purpose of the role
In this role, you will operate high-speed CNC machinery to produce precision-machined components to exacting standards. You will work from engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation, keep machines running efficiently and play a direct part in delivering quality products to customers.
Key responsibilities
- Operate CNC machining centres to produce high-quality precision components.
- Set up materials, tooling, fixtures and programmes ready for efficient production.
- Keep machines running smoothly through regular checks and proactive monitoring.
- Work from engineering drawings and production documents with accuracy and care.
- Maintain excellent standards of quality, safety and housekeeping.
What we are looking for
You will be practical, reliable and quality-focused, with CNC operating experience in a precision engineering or manufacturing environment.
Required abilities:
- Previous CNC machine operating experience.
- Lathe skills and practical machining knowledge.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Solid understanding of machining processes, tooling and quality requirements.
- Good IT skills for using production systems and recording information accurately.
- Strong attention to detail, organisation and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, as part of a team and to production deadlines.
- Commitment to health, safety and housekeeping standards.
Desirable abilities:
- Experience with CNC milling, multi-axis machining, basic programme or tool-table editing, or Renishaw probing systems.
- Experience in aerospace, defence or precision engineering sectors, first-off inspection or rotating shift patterns.
