Purpose of the Apprentice Role:
To acquire the skills, knowledge and competence to work within a Machine Shop / Tool Room environment to operate at a qualified operator level to carry out a range of tasks to include:
- Basic machine operation, manual and CNC, lathes, milling, drilling, tapping and grinding
- Manual fitting skills
- Remove, repair, replace and/or test components in an engineering environment
- Carry out cleaning and basic maintenance of machine
- Basic inspection of equipment
- Interpretation of engineering drawings.
Duration of Apprenticeship:
Typically, the duration of this apprenticeship is 48 months, combining off site training on a weekly basis with ‘on the job’ training within the workplace.
